Urban Oasis: Match Remodeling's Stunning Rooftop Deck Features Americana™ Thermally Modified Oak

Philadelphia, PA

Match Remodeling, a leading design and construction firm based in Philadelphia, PA, recently completed a stunning rooftop deck in the Fitler Square neighborhood of the city. This impressive 1,000 LF deck, completed in October 2023, showcases the versatility and beauty of Americana™ Thermally Modified Oak.

The rooftop deck project, initiated in August 2023, was spearheaded by Match Remodeling. The firm is renowned for its high-quality craftsmanship and innovative designs. For this project, the choice of material was pivotal, and Americana™ Thermally Modified Oak was selected for its durability, aesthetic appeal, and ease of use.

Americana™ Thermally Modified Oak proved to be an exceptional choice for this rooftop deck. Our Pennsylvania hardwood product is known for its stability and resistance to weathering, making it ideal for outdoor installations. The material’s light weight and manageable lengths facilitated an efficient construction process, while its compatibility with standard cutting tools eliminated the need for specialized blades, something often overlooked when working with many imported species, like Ipe, for example.

Whitney Posternack, Principal at Match Remodeling, shared her experience with the Americana™ product, stating "It's great working with the Americana™ thermally modified products. This deck was a seamless project for us, and we were provided timely and constructive recommendations from the Americana™ team throughout the project. Lead times were perfect, the product delivered exactly when needed, and what we especially like about this product is that it's light, comes in manageable lengths, and it’s easy to work with. From a design standpoint, we especially like the way it silvers naturally. We would absolutely recommend Americana products and spec them again."

An integral part of the design was to ensure cohesion with the existing elements of the client's home. Inside the home, the window frames were made of white oak. To maintain a consistent aesthetic, Match Remodeling mirrored this design in the rooftop pilot house by using Americana Thermally Modified Oak for the interior window framing. This thoughtful detail created a more harmonious transition between the home's interior and the new outdoor space.

The Fitler Square rooftop deck by Match Remodeling is a testament to high-quality design and craftsmanship. The use of Americana™ Thermally Modified Oak not only enhances the deck's durability and beauty but also ensured a smooth and efficient construction process. This project stands as an excellent example of how innovative materials and skilled builders can create remarkable outdoor living spaces.
